Tallinn Polytechnic Film Festival returns – for the ninth time already!
Over the years, the Tallinn Polytechnic Film Festival has grown from a small in-school event into a remarkable nationwide festival. In 2026, it will take place for the ninth time, bringing together young filmmakers from across Estonia.
Students from vocational schools, general education schools, hobby schools, and young people from youth centers who have a passion for filmmaking are all invited to participate. The festival offers a great opportunity for young creators to showcase their work and receive valuable feedback from professionals in the field.
Each year, the submitted films are evaluated by renowned Estonian cultural figures, who select the best works in different categories. The jury changes annually, and its members will be announced during April.
In 2026, short films are expected in four categories:
- documentary
- animation
- fiction
- TV series pilot
Film registration is open until March 30, and the final works must be submitted by April 24.
The highlight of the festival is the gala evening, which will take place on May 29 at Cinema Sõprus. During the evening, the best films will be screened and outstanding young filmmakers will be recognized with prestigious awards.
The festival is supported by several partners: the main sponsor OVERALL Canon, the winning film will be presented in the JustFilm program, and the documentary category is supported by Selver. Additional supporters include Artis, Noor Tehnik, Burgerbros, Estonian Drama Theatre, Estonian National Museum, and CinemaGo.
Over the years, a total of 242 short films created by young people have been submitted to the festival. All of them can be viewed on our Film Library:
