What if reality and the future seem hopeless? Lonely Amir walks through the night of Tehran selling all kinds of drugs. Drugs seem to be the only cure for the anguish of the soul, and Amir is a modern-day prophet ready to help. A faithful GPS guides the way, but where - through a tunnel out of a country without a future or instead into an alternative reality that more and more young Iranians are choosing with the help of drugs? The film by the young Iranian director Ali Ahmadzadeh is like a rebellion against the country's current regime and imposed film language. However, politics stays behind the scenes in this film. Black humor, frantic pace and amazing visuals come to the fore, amplifying the illusion of an alternative reality and freedom. This screenplay is also a tribute to the masters of Iranian cinema, Abbas Kiarostami and Jafar Panahi. "Critical Zone" won the Golden Leopard for the best film at the Locarno Film Festival this year.
