The entertainment bomb that made the crowds laugh at film festivals around the world is finally in front of the Estonian audience!
"Mootorsaed Laulsid", already dubbed a "cult film" at the time of its premiere, is an open secret of Estonian cinema - a film that has been made in secret for over ten years and whose genre definition mixes comedy, action, horror, musical, sincere love film, road movie and much more.
The story of the film is simple: on the worst day of his life, the loser Tom meets the beautiful Maria and the couple fall in love at first sight. Suddenly, however, a chainsaw-wielding killer appears from the forest and takes Maria prisoner, and a crazy rescue operation begins.
In the film, the warmth and sincerity are surprising, but the absurd humor and over-the-top characters carry on the side. The constant barrage of jokes makes even scenes with buckets of blood gushing out grin-worthy or downright hilarious.
The world premiere of "Motorcycle Saws" took place in the spring of 2024 at the Haapsalu Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, where it received awards from both the audience and the jury. Since then, it has been screened at more than fifty festivals around the world and won many awards, including the title of best horror film at Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the USA, and the audience favorite award from the domestic love film festival Tartuff.
The director and author of the story is Sander Maran, with Karl-Joosep Ilves, Laura Niils, Martin Ruus, Janno Puusepp, Rita Rätsepp and others. Producers Sander Maran, Kaur Maran, Jan Andresson, Karl-Joosep Ilves and Peeter Maran.
