Alex Cox's most cult-celebrated film, Repo Man, is the story of down-and-out punk Otto Maddox (Emilio Estevez), who accepts a job as a car restorer for a large corporation. Although he didn't want to be a repo man, Otto begins to enjoy his exciting new life... and then things get really weird. Like, alien-weird. There are also mad scientists and government conspiracies. It's a strange movie, but those green-glowing 80s sci-fi effects are damn fun to watch. "Repo Man" is a punk film with recognizable tropes and trends defined by the musical movement. They rebel against conformism and boredom. In the background of what is happening on the screen, we are told another story, the story of nuclear war and the demented society that made it possible. Taking back people's cars and hating alien ideologies is only the tip of the iceberg. The iceberg itself is a maniac culture under the iron leaders Reagan and Thatcher, who are ready to sacrifice everything.. For all its timeliness, the inevitable feeling of the era and the prism of humor, this is a film that will never get old.NB! The film features music by Fear, Black Flag and Iggy Pop, among others. The punk band The Circle Jerks make a cameo and the moped gang is played by the ska group The Untouchables. A true 80's punk gem!
