Comrade
It is a year 1950 in Soviet Estonia and the Stalinist terrorist machine works full -time - under his six -year -old Leelo, his school principal is arrested. "If you are a good child, I'll be back soon," my mother's last words when she is taken away between the gunmen.
Leelo is trying to behave well with all the power, but her mother still doesn't come home. Thus, the fear of the child's soul is blamed for being guilty of removing his mother. The incomprehension is getting worse because "good" and "bad" are no longer the right meaning in this confusing time. Why is blue and white suddenly forbidden? Who is the enemy of the people and why a terrible businesswoman turns around their home? Is the pioneer being an honor or shame?
In this strange two -faced world, Leelo is trying to be as good as possible for the return of her mother, but is getting into new hassles, and what a good child really means.
Director Moonika Siimetsa's first full -length feature film is based on the autobiographical novels of the beloved writer Leelo Tungla, "Comrade Child and Big People" and "Velvet and Saw Deaf". In parallel with the film, the writer will make the last part of the trilogy.
