Vampyr
Vampyr
Run Time
01:15
This Great Depression-era horror film directed by Danish director Carl Theodor Dreyer follows a young man named Allan Gray. He happens upon a small village and finds himself in a whirlwind of ghostly and supernatural events, with a vampire terrorizing the village and a family behind it. "Vampyr" is less well-known than "Nosferatu", which came out 10 years earlier, but in many ways better, and loaded with dreamlike symbols and metaphors. It is probably no coincidence that during the greatest economic catastrophe of the century, the reasons of which remained largely incomprehensible to ordinary people, Dreyer made a film about the evil living in the castle, who lives on the blood of the locals. A film that Andrei Tarkovsky included in his list of 77 most important cinematographic works.
