The Art of Living

Run Time

01:15
The ART OF LIVING session looks at life through the prism of art and seeing things differently. Through the eyes of young people, stories from both fantasy and the very real world are told. NB! The session ends with the SCHOOL FILM 2024 closing ceremony and prize distribution. SCHOOL FILM is a film festival where young student filmmakers can show their films, participate in exciting master classes in the film industry, meet professional filmmakers and gather new ideas by communicating with other filmmakers. "DEJAVU or once I saw Sooster's eggs" - Darja Osnovina, Anna Arsenina Once, on a museum night, a young man went to KUMU. He was inspired by the surrealist eggs of the Estonian artist Ülo Sooster. And he decided to devote his life and work to drawing eggs. He wouldn't realize how this attitude would change his life. "Galathea" - Tia Jegen, Sanna Coppens Two friends, Paige and Gala, spend a summer day by the lake. A modern interpretation of the Greek myth "The Statue of Pygmalion", where Paige is romantically obsessed with Gala. This manifests itself in contrasting scenes where he shapes and touches the motionless, figurative Gala. The contrast of Paige's actions in this situation reveals the disconnect between our inner thoughts and the reality around us. "Case" - Nora Adeele Kalda The action of the film "Incident" takes place in a medieval schoolhouse in the 1930s. Two students have stayed after school to study when they discover that the clock is already ticking towards midnight. Panicking, they run to the front door, which, unfortunately for them, is closed. Students are forced to spend the night in a dark school building, where late night hours are accompanied by mysterious incidents... “Du ser Mig” - Victor Jahn Kohler - "European elections 2024" - Viktoria Smetanina, Ruta Kamyšnikova This film was submitted to the Euroscola 2024 competition "Self portrait 2" - Paula Benu Mixed media animation self portrait of the artist. "Circus" - Unė Kvietkauskaitė "The short film Cirkas is inspired by and based on the office working conditions of young people. Using satirical dialogue and stage design, the film portrays the situations in the office as a circus. The phrase 'life is more than just the office' is heard several times in the film, expressing the recognition of the main character - he has to leave from the internship that restricts him and to live life to the fullest." "Time" - Ruslan Khromin A young international student studying at a segregated American boarding school returns to his native Russia for winter break. In his personal diary, he reflects on how both he and his homeland have changed in a seemingly short period of time. “l'appel du Vide” - Sytric Wing Hei Chan A surreal film about building expectations and social pressure on the younger generation.
