Hand-sliding love

Run Time

01:34
In the fifth and last chapter of the Doinel saga, Antoine has reached middle age, but is still dealing with the twists and turns of life and the twists and turns of his love life. Eight years have passed since the events of "Family Circle". Antoine and Christine are divorcing, and Antoine, who has published an autobiographical novel, has found a new partner. Unfortunately, this relationship is also not without its stones and stumps, but people from Antoine's past suddenly become its saviors. Truffaut took on "Love that Slips on the Hand" knowing that it would be Doinel's last film. Yet he had said the same about The Family Circle, and he admitted that it would be wrong to suggest that Doinel would finally become an adult in The Slippery Love. "Many men have an element of childishness, but he has even more." Jean-Pierre Léaud, who played Doinel, also admitted that he did not want to leave this character. Truffaut died five years after the film was made at the age of only 52, and so we have to imagine for ourselves what Antoine Doinel's future life might have been like.
