"I predict that in the near future the right-wing will use the drug hysteria as an excuse to create an international police apparatus." Priest Tom, played by beat writer William S. Burroughs, who became a god in the film "Drug Cowboy", tells the story of a gang of drug addicts in the American Northwestern states of the 70s, the second feature film from director Gus Van Sant. The film's characters rob pharmacies and hospitals and get high until the leader of the gang, Bob, decides to start methadone treatment. It's a film that some call the best film ever made about addiction, a subject that will continue to interest us as long as there are people in the world, wrapped in Santi's poetic and extremely beautiful world.
