Co-written by acclaimed Finnish director Juho Kuosmanen with Estonian screenwriters - Andris Feldmanis and Livia Ulman - "Kupee No. 6", which won the Grand Prix at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, takes the viewer on a heartfelt journey through the inconsolable winter of 90s Russia.
Laura (Seidi Haarla), a student at the University of Moscow, escapes from her dead-end relationship by train to Murmansk to fulfill her long-held dream. In a train full of trees, he has to share a compartment with a simple miner Ljoha (Yuri Borissov). Laura's idea of a trip as a peaceful self-discovery is shattered already on the first night, when her unruly cabin mate gets drunk. There is no escaping the conflict, but the occupants of compartment number six soon discover that they are more alike in their loneliness than they could have imagined.
A meeting spiced with bitter humor on a train bound for the Arctic Circle changes both of their worlds forever.
